Interveiwing Amanda Stewart
Amanda said the golf team is "fun and the coach is pretty dope". She also said "the tournament are intense but the car rides are most fun".
Updates-
Practice starts the first week of August.
The first tournament will be in the first week of September.
There are 14 girls signed up for the Team this year.
This year we will be playing at some different courses.

Details:
After school each day the golf team goes out to the course and practices until 5 in the after noon.
First, all the girls drive out to the golf course and wait until the coach gets there. Once he is there they take golf carts down to the driving range. Then they set up their clubs and start practicing. Mr. Meriman stands and watches all of them to see if they're all doing good. If one of them is doing something wrong or needs improvement he comes over and helps. The team works on their stance, swing, etc. They also can go to the putting green and chipping green to work on putting and chipping.
If there is no one, or not a lot of people on the course that day, Mr. Meriman will take all the girls to a couple holes and let them play for a little bit on the actual course.
There is certain cloths you have to wear when you go to practice or play: Collared shirts, shorts or pants (no jeans). You will also have a couple team shirts, that everyone has the same one of. When you go to the tournaments all the girls on the team have to wear matching shirts so people from other schools know which school you are from. (Every different schools team will be wearing matching shirts with their school colors also).

The Season
The Girls Golf team is starting to practice pretty soon. There are a lot of new girls joining the team this season, so it should be fun. All the team members need to practice a lot to make sure they are ready for tournaments that are coming up soon. There is going to be tournaments in the summer and during the school year as well.
The season doesn't last too long in Truckee because of the weather so we should be finishing up sometime around august.

Tournaments
All the girls practice very hard everyday after school to improve and do good in each tournament. Mr. Meriman, the coach, is at old greenwood with the team everyday helping them improve and making sure they are doing everything correctly.
The Tournaments are actually pretty fun. One thing is getting there, but the actual tournament is a great and fun experience. Although it's nice to spend a couple hours in the car with some of your good friends just doing whatever, the tournaments are pretty cool too.
Mr. Meriman rents a car to drive the team to the tournaments because most of them are a couple hours away. The team also books a couple hotel rooms and stays the night so they can wake up early and head out to the course. When they get out to the course the team checks it out, practices a little on the driving range, figures out what hole they are playing first and where to go, then they get in their little groups with the people they are playing against, and start to play. When they get hungry they can go up the the club house and eat their lunch. It's a great experience to meet new people interested in the same things as you!
